What kind of bees are those big, fat ones that are yellow and black. They seem to bore holes in wood for some reason but they are obvious pollinators since they hang around my lantana on the deck [jostling with the butterflies and hummingbirds for the pollen]. I know I could look this up but why bother since I have a "resident" bee expert to call on???
I guess that is why they like our deck so much -- all that wood to "bore" into. They also like the lantana we plant each year. I guess they don't have any sting to them????

ReplyDeleteThose are carpenter bees. They are wood-boring, which can be annoying, but they are also pollinators, which is a good thing.
